Builders and trespassing

Hi, I bought a house around a year ago. My back yard is directly connected to the neighbours behind me. A couple of days ago they started knocking down an old concrete building, when I came home from work the builders were in my garden without having asked for my permission. I asked them about this and they said they had knocked but there was no one in. So they did not have permission to access my property. The builders completed putting up a new fence yesterday and whilst putting my bin out today I noticed that the lock on my gate had been disconnected as the screws had been taken out and it was laying on the floor. What can I do about this? It's totally unacceptable and I'm pretty sure illegal!

  • Hi Karl, I would avoid any direct confrontation and look for a local solicitor to confirm what your legal rights are. You can then take appropriate action on the back of the correct legal advice. Hope you've figured this out... Thanks, Ruban
