Nice but affordable areas in and around Hull.

Moving from West Yorkshire to East Yorkshire to be closer to my ageing parents on the coast. Moving into Hull, as coming from Leeds I enjoy having access to a city centre. Looking for a peaceful area, one with hard working families and a decent school. Willerby, Swanland, Kirk Ella, Ferriby etc "West Hull Villages" I cannot afford. Considering Sutton/Sutton Park, Hedon, the area around East Park, and also the area around the Costello stadium (Anlaby Park I believe). I liked Cottingham, but I fear that the student population would make my life less peaceful, and areas in Cottingham that are away from students are mostly social housing/ ex-council homes. Its hard to get a feel for places, as online statistics don't tell you the true character of an area. So just some recommendations/comments on my already selected areas would be HUGELY appreciated. Also, are there any areas that I should avoid? As I said:Peaceful, Good school, 20 mins max to city centre (No towns 15 miles pls)

  • Hello - Hopefully someone local to Hull will be able to to give you something more definitive - but, in the mean time, have you tried Googling the following sites "Property Wizza 2.0", "Property Detective", "Street Check", "Find a Hood" and "UK Local Area"? It may also be worth going to the local library or looking online for community forums. Speaking with lettings and estate agents might also be an idea. Best of luck with your search.
