How many sets of keys?

How many sets of keys should be given to us? My husband and I have just moved into a rented apartment and we have only been given one set which is a bit of a nightmare and when we have priced to get another set cut it's going to cost £60 because one of the keys is a security key - the landlady give her OK to get a set cut but why should we have to pay?

  • Normally it´s one set of keys per tenancy but you may want to check the tenancy agreement to confirm. If not, maybe have a polite word with the landlord/lady and see if you can arrive at some kind of compromise?

  • Good question. I would suggest one set is OK,but I would ask the Landlord if they have an additional communal door key. If they don't I would request a price from the managing agent of the block (which your Landlord will know or it may mention in the communal area), or shop around, I know the key your talking about, try an independent locksmith shop rather than a well known chain, the difference on 4 standard keys was a lot. Good luck Owen
