How can I sell a property in Spain?

My mother has an apartment in Benidorm, Alicante, Spain (Costa Blanca) and she is looking for someone to sell it. Could you advise me about details on how to do this?

  • I have had dealings with Calida International Properties in the past. They may be able to help you.

  • Spain's property market is in the doldrums now so it won't be easy. As in the UK, location, location, location, and also realistic pricing is necessary. Spanish Agents charge more commission than their English counterparts - expect to pay upwards of 5% commission. You'll also need to find energetic and enthousiastic agents, but you could try listing it yourself in the classified ads in some of the English language newspapers - however this won't be easy if you need to show people around and you don't live in Benidorm. Selling property is a minefield legally too, so be sure to engage a good solicitor.

  • It used to be rather difficult and expensive to find a buyer when you sell house in Spain. But several of the online marketplaces available today connect you to buyers very quickly, and don't have to charge many of the traditional fees you used to get hit with.
